“Protests continue in Ukraine” ~#Ukraine: PM says he doesn’t want country to become a “battlefield” between EU and Russia

Ukraine Prime Minister Mykola Azarov says he does not want his country to become a “battlefield” between the EU and Moscow.

Brussels’ criticism of Russia after Kiev backed out of a trade deal with the EU has prompted a robust response from Moscow. It was “inappropriate” said President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman to speak of pressure from Russia.

On the streets of the capital Kiev opinions among the protesters differed.

“Ukraine is Europe and we have to consider ourselves as Europeans, our culture is closer to Europe. We are fed up with obeying the elder brother (Russia) for the past 70 years,” said Melnikova Olga a pensioner from Kiev.

Another protester Vadim Torpov used more strident language:

“Until the signing of the agreement with the EU if this doesn’t happen we’re going to change the authorities and the only question then will be which way to do it – the military way? Because after yesterday’s beatings by the riot police, people are ready to fight,” he opined.

It was on Monday night that violence flared around a van that some claimed was an undercover police patrol spying on protesters.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has confirmed President Viktor Yanukovich will attend the summit in Vilnius with the EU and discuss possible three-way talks on Ukraine’s economic problems which would also involve Russia.

Azarov also announced that Kiev would start talks with Russia on reviving economic relations with Moscow in December. “We will draw up a ‘road-map’ for re-establishing our relations,” he said.

U.S. Economic Collapse Eminent Without Glass Steagall

LPACNEWS November 20, 2013 | Featured Webcast 11/15/2013 | LaRouche: Wipe Out Wall Street’s Genocidal Health Insurance Companies; “Obama’s Bail-out/Bail-in of Wall Street’s Insurance” Return To Hill-Burton Principle, & Single Payer Federal System | Reported November 6, 2013 • 4:48PM

“President Barack Obama’s nightmare experiment in Nazi medicine, known as Obamacare, has already gone too far and must be shut down immediately, Lyndon LaRouche stated today. The leading health insurance companies are financial vultures that are a branch of Wall Street, and they should be wiped out, LaRouche said. We don’t need Wall Street, and we don’t need the health insurance predators either. They are killing our people, and those of other nations, Hitler-style. What they are doing is a crime against humanity, and genocide is still illegal in the United States.

These are policies that Obama and his Wall Street backers have been instructed to execute by the Anglo-Dutch Empire and Queen Elizabeth herself, whose stated, explicit policy is to reduce the world’s population from 7 billion down to 1 billion human beings. Their policy of bail-out and bail-in of the so-called Too Big To Fail banks, like the same policy of bail-out/bail-in of the health insurance golems —which is all that Obamacare is — is already leading to mass murder, which is precisely the Queen’s intention.

In the same way that a return to FDR’s Glass-Steagall law will wipe out speculative banking, and allow commercial banking to serve the needs of productive activities, in health care, LaRouche added, all we need is a single federal system — along the lines of the Conyers “Medicare for All” bill — in combination with a return to the time-tested Hill-Burton medical standards, which will allow for rebuilding the physical economic health infrastructure to provide real medical care.

A swift return to Glass-Steagall, and an equally swift departure of Obama from the White House, are the first steps needed to return the United States to good health.

STRATEGIC NATURAL GAS STORAGE: Completion of construction and commissioning of the Castor project

In July of 2012, SENER completed construction and then commissioned the Castor project, a strategic natural gas (NG) storage plant in Vinaroz, Castellon (Spain), delivering the project on time. >From 2009 SENER worked in a turnkey consortium on the design, construction and commissioning of the project, which belongs to Escal UGS (a subsidiary of the Canadian multinational Eurogas) and the ACS group.
Castor can store gas from the national gas pipeline network in high-pressure periods (injection phase) and return it to the network when, due to an increase in demand or undersupply, network pressure is reduced (withdraw phase). It has a usable storage capacity of 1,300 Nm3, an injection capacity of 8 million Nm3/day and its withdraw capacity is 25 million Nm3/day. It is Spain’s largest offshore storage plant and has one of the largest onshore sweetening units in the world.
The project was delivered on time and on budget, and it also bears pointing out that the construction phase consisted of over 2,600,000 labor hours with an extremely low accident rate.
The Castor project’s design, construction and commissioning all adhered to the international quality standards typically followed in the industry, and was certified by Lloyds Register.
Project Chronology:
November 2006 to July 2008: SENER contributs to the conceptual and basic engineering and to the estimate for the investment costs.
March 2009: The EPC contract comes into effect and, as part of the construction consortium, SENER contributs to the building of the onshore plant and to the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the rest of the project.
March 2010: Construction of the onshore operations plant begins.
October 2010: The WellHead Platform (WHP) is installed and starts the drilling campaign.
November 2011: The Process, Utilities and Quarters platform (PUQ) is installed.
July 2012: The commissioning works are completed, the injection tests are conducted, and the client signs the provisional acceptance certificate for the project.

European Investment Bank welcomes first successful use of project bond credit enhancement and provides EUR 500m for Castor energy storage project in Spain
The first transaction under the Project Bond Credit Enhancement initiative has successfully taken place. Investment in the Castor underground gas storage project, that will provide storage for 30% of Spain’s daily gas consumption, was supported by the successful issue of the first European Investment Bank supported project bond. The EIB will provide a total of EUR 500 million for the project. The Castor project is being developed by ACS Group and Dundee Energy and the promoter is the Spanish Ministry of Industry.
The EUR 1.4 billion bond issue for the Castor project was supported by a EUR 200 million liquidity line under the Project Bond Credit Enhancement Initiative which allowed the project to achieve a credit rating more attractive to investors. The EIB will also purchase EUR 300 million of the bonds as an anchor investor. The issue was placed with a wide range of institutions from across Europe.
“Unlocking the support of institutional investors to provide long-term investment in European infrastructure is crucial for stimulating economic growth and creating new jobs. The European Investment Bank is committed to supporting investment essential for Europe’s future and congratulates Castor for successfully demonstrating how using project bond credit enhancement can enable increased support for long-term investment during challenging economic times. We expect the pilot phase of the joint EIB-European Commission project bond credit enhancement initiative to add a new dimension to the EU Bank’s contribution to infrastructure finance in Europe.” said European Investment Bank President Werner Hoyer.
“Successful issue by Castor of the first project bond is a welcome sign of increasing support for long-term investment essential for sustainable growth in Europe. The project bond initiative is an innovative way to unlock private investment in infrastructure and a key element in helping to boost growth and jobs. The pilot phase is an important first step in view of the next EU financial framework, underlining the role of the EU budget as an engine for growth.” said European Commission Vice President Olli Rehn.
The Europe 2020 Project Bond Initiative, a joint programme by the European Commission and the EIB is designed to stimulate capital market financing for infrastructure delivered under ‘project finance’ structures. The pilot phase will benefit from EUR 230 million from the EU budget and will focus on encouraging capital market investment worth more than EUR 4 billion for transport and energy investment. To benefit from credit enhancement during the pilot phase suitable projects will need to reach financial close between now and the end of 2016, provided that the EIB obtains financing approval by its Board before the end of 2014.
To date nine energy and transport projects eligible for Project Bond Credit Enhancement, in six EU countries, have been approved by the EIB Board. These include motorway projects in Belgium, Germany Slovakia, and the UK, grid connections to offshore wind farms in Germany and the UK, and as well as gas storage facilities in Italy. The Castor project is expected to be followed by additional project bonds later this year and in 2014. Under the project bond model bonds are issued by the project companies themselves, and not the EIB or the Member States. The role of the European Investment Bank is to provide credit enhancement through a subordinated instrument, either a loan or contingent facility, to support the senior debt issued by the project company.
